A line of thunderstorms is moving through south-central Kansas and north-central Oklahoma tonight. These storms have the potential to unleash hail and damaging wind gusts.
"These storms are developing along a front," AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Mike Pigott said. "The reason these storms appear to be in a line is because a cold front is going through that region."
The line of storms is moving eastward tonight. The storms are expected to make it into Missouri and Arkansas before dying off around midnight.
"I do not believe this line of storms has the potential to create any tornadoes," said Pigott. "There's not a lot of spin out there."
These storms have already produced hail up to one inch in diameter in Benton, Kan. A shed was blown on to a roadway at Highway 400 and Santa Fe Lake Road six miles east of Andover, Kan.
In Oklahoma, powerful wind gusts have already occurred. Winds gusted to 69 mph 4 miles west of Oklahoma City.
