Washington State Avalanche Leaves 3 Dead, Others Missing

An avalanche at the Stevens Pass ski area has taken the lives of at least three people and as many as eight others are believed to be missing as of Sunday evening.

The King County Sheriff's office has confirmed that a search and rescue is underway.

The group was skiing in an out-of-bounds area near the local ski resort when the avalanche occurred. Stevens Pass is located about 90 miles east of Seattle.

No further information is available at this time.
