AccuWeather.com will be constantly updating this news story to provide you with the latest information on the severe storms and flooding impacting the Plains.
Severe thunderstorms continue to erupt across the southern Plains, producing the threats of damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes. Showers and thunderstorms stretch from Missouri to central Texas.
**A line of thunderstorms is stretching from the east of Del Rio, Texas, to communities to near San Antonio, and Dallas, Texas. Some of storms are severe with indications of strong rotation on radar. Flooding rainfall and large hail has been the primary concern with these thunderstorms.**
Thunderstorms are causing delays of nearly three hours at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and some delays at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as well.
Take cover immediately if a severe storm or tornado-related warning is issued for your area.
AccuWeather.com meteorologists are especially concerned about the thunderstorms erupting from Kansas City, Mo., southward will unleash damaging winds, large hail, flooding downpours and a few destructive tornadoes.
Flooding rain has been pouring down with the thunderstorms hammering Oklahoma, from Oklahoma City to Tulsa. Officials have been forced to close roads as a result of flooding.
Highways in Dallas have been forced to close thanks to flooding as well, and the heavy rain will continue well into the overnight hours.
The violent thunderstorms will shift slowly northeastward into early Tuesday, threatening the corridor from western Missouri to central Texas. Flash flooding will continue to be a major concern as communities are hit with multiple downpours.
Cities that could be left damaged from the powerful thunderstorms or tornadoes through this evening include Waco and Tyler, Texas, McAlester, Muskogee and Tulsa, Okla., Springfield, Mo., and Fayetteville, Ark.
Keep weather radios on for severe weather and flooding alerts.
Thunderstorms have also intensify farther north across portions of Iowa, the eastern Dakotas and southern Minnesota. A few storms will become strong or severe farther east across portions of Ohio, the Virginias and the Carolinas as well. Hail and strong winds will continue to be the biggest threats of these storms into tonight.
The severe weather danger will not end tonight, but will instead extend into Tuesday across the Arklatex region.
