Super Tuesday Predictions

Mar 4, 2012; 12:28 PM ET
Weather predictions, of course! No politics here.
As Americans set out to the polls in ten states for Super Tuesday's primaries, generally quiet weather will meet the voters. However, there will be some trouble spots.
RAIN AND SNOW
Colder air, snow and rain will filter into Idaho on Super Tuesday in wake of a cold front. Accumulating snow will primarily be confined to the mountains. Snake River Valley voters will have a few rain and snow showers, but limited travel problems, if any.
Alaskan voters heading to the polls will be met with intermittent snow across central and southern parts of the state. Some slick travel will ensue. The exceptions will be across the far north where it will be cold, but dry. The panhandle will have periods of rain and snow, with little or no snow accumulation across the lower elevations, including Juneau.
GUSTY WINDS
Hold on to your hats Oklahomans! Southerly winds will be howling, especially in the afternoon. Sustained winds will average 20 to 40 mph in the afternoon with gusts to 50 mph. The early morning or evening would be the best time for voters when winds will be lighter. Despite the winds, plenty of sunshine and warmth is forecast. Highs will reach the 70s across much of the state.

SOME BREEZES, BUT DRY
Breezy and dry conditions will be across North Dakota, Ohio and Tennessee, thus the weather is not anticipated to make headlines. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s across North Dakota, 50s in Ohio and 60s in Tennessee.
It is unknown how the recent severe weather across Tennessee and Ohio will impact the elections. Election offices were closed in both states this weekend when calls were made Sunday morning.
TRANQUIL WEATHER
Voters in Vermont, Massachusetts, Virginia and Georgia will have the most tranquil weather out of all of the Super Tuesday states. A high pressure system will be anchored over the East, providing plenty of sunshine and light winds.
It will be chilly across Vermont and Massachusetts with highs in the 30s. Milder weather will be farther south, with upper 40s and 50s across Virginia, while upper 50s and 60s will be across Georgia.
