Tornadoes frequently occur on Palm Sunday in the U.S. Three notable tornadoes happened in the years 1994, 1965 and 1920.
1994 Tornado Outbreak
On March 27, 1994, two F4 tornadoes touched down. One was in Piedmont, Ala., and the other was in Cartersville, Ga.

1965 Tornado Outbreak
A total of 47 tornadoes were confirmed during the Palm Sunday tornado outbreak of April 11, 1965. An F4 tornado that touched down in Clinton county, Ind., was the first reported tornado of the day.

1920 Tornado Outbreak
Palm Sunday, March 28, 1920 was marked with a tornado outbreak that impacted eight states leaving about 400 people dead and at least 1,215 injured.
