Ontarians battled icy roads Thursday

February 16, 2012 — Depending where they were, drivers in Ontario were dealing with rain, snow and freezing rain on
Thursday. In some cases, roads looked more like skating rinks.

Accidents were reported Thursday morning

It was a tricky Thursday morning commute for some Ontario residents.
A low pressure system from the US brought a mix of wintery weather conditions to the province. At one point, a freezing rain warning was in place for communities west of Toronto.
Multiple accidents were reported around the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
While the precipitation has mainly switched over to rain in the southern sections of Ontario, snow is still falling in the north.
"Some areas could see up to 10 cm accumulate by the time all is said and done, especially near the Quebec border," says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
"The system should move into the Ottawa, Montreal area by Thursday evening," says Dayna Vettese, another meteorologist at The Weather Network. "It should start off as a little bit of snow and change to a bit of a messy mix and then over to rain through the overnight."
Motorists are advised to use extra caution on the roads as conditions deteriorate. Leaving yourself extra time for the for the commute is also a good idea.
