AccuWeather.com - Brett Anderson | Spring Coming Early for Many

Mar 6, 2012; 1:37 PM ET

The latest ECMWF long-range weekly model forecast continues to indicate that spring will be coming much earlier than normal this year, especially from the southern Prairies through eastern Canada, including the U.S. Prairies and Eastern states.

Usually, after a relatively mild winter, we end up paying the price in the spring with cold and surprise snowfall, but the ECMWF has been consistently going with the warmer idea. Yes, there will be some cold shots, but they will in and out very quickly with longer periods of mild weather.

As long as the very cold air remains over Alaska, it usually means that eastern North America will be mild.

Also, previous blog from today is on the Newfoundland snowstorm for tonight.
