1. I posted an image of the 2012 hurricane season and my first impressions of the season. The season is based on the El Nino starting to develop this summer so a below normal number of storms. Given that the Southeast coast and Gulf of Mexico water temps are running above normal and the recent warm spell is not helping matters, one has to watch these areas for storms and development. The Caribbean may be shut down this year due to the El Nino as well. Again, this is a first look at the season, additional updates will be done later in the spring and summer.
2. I know people are concerned about cold weather and their plants and trees that are coming out early. Right now, I do not see any big pushes of cold weather coming with the exception of the Northeast north of I-80 which may see a a few spells of chilly weather the later part of March.
3. I posted my map for severe weather today. Looks like Louisiana will be the main location for possible severe storms and possible quick hitting tornadoes.
